Ashley Johnson, Personal Branding Shoot, Boulder Co.

August 31, 2017

Ashley Johnson is a woman who wears many hats. SHE Photography was hired to do personal branding photography for her in Boulder Colorado. During the time we spent together, I witnessed her transform into a multi faceted woman of many interests and talents. I arrived to traveling mama, who had just returned from a number of weeks away. She was dressed in yoga clothes, no make up, and resistant to step into the full experience of her now scheduled shoot, as she was tired, and not fully feeling it (at that moment). Then, in steps Oksana Starling, hair and make up extraordinaire, and in front of my eyes Ashley transforms into this incredible powerhouse, spiritually aligned, yogi, business woman, musician! As they went through her outfits, and created the looks that represent her, Ashley came to life, eagerly demonstrating her many different aspects of self.

Ashley had taken a step back from career and teaching for the past 10 years to raise her 3 incredible children. The challenge in returning to the “work” world is to redefine who she is and what she has to offer, especially as a woman who has so many different aspects of interest and expertise. Ashely hired SHE Photography to help create a gallery of images that capture each and every aspect of her dynamic personality. I have to say it was an absolute success!

Ashley’s passions are:

  1. SpiritDance SoulSong: she is a SpiritDance SoulSong facilitator – www.spiritdancesoulsong.com
  2. VIBRANCE facilitator: An integrative and holistic wellness practice that includes: Vocalization, NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), Nutrition, Breathwork, Creative Movement, and Chakra Activation and Attunement.
  3. Yoga Teacher: Teaching weekly local classes in Lyons from my home studio this fall. Her focus is on embodying and using the Goddess Archetypes of Yoga (Kali, Durga, Saraswati, Lakshmi) as guides in our everyday life. Her classes combine mudra, mantra, asana, pranayama, and moving meditations.
  4. Performing Singer/Songwriter
  5. Women’s Creative Revival: Co-Founder and Group Facilitator.

This woman is one amazing soul, and I am thrilled to witness her re-emergence from mother hood into her fullest expression of self!

ISO guidance on future training and career opportunities in the medical field.

As many of you have known I have been on quite a healing journey. For 15 years I struggled w chronic Lyme and co-infections. What I learned during this journey is that the Western Medical system has some huge gaps. It was when I explored Functional Medicine, Natuorpathic Medicine, Oriental Medicine, etc., that I finally got answers and started my healing journey.
2 years ago I embarked on a hard core journey to finally fully heal myself and was successful! a huge shout out to Patrick Lynch at Sky Ridge Accupuncture and Oriental Medicine. A combination of impeccable diet, herbs and Accupuncture were my solution. I am sold. I am grateful to all who have guided me on my path to this point. I’ve worked w some incredible doctors.
After so many years of diving in deep, I feel I know a lot, and there yet there is so much more to learn. I want to know more. I want to help others. I want to continue to learn about Functional Medicine, Nutrition, health, etc.
So my predicament, I’m obviously not going to medical school to become a doctor. I don’t have the bandwidth for that, I wish I did. What are my alternatives?
I’ve considered becoming a nurse or a Physicians Assistant. I’ve looked at online programs for Functional Nutrition.
I have not worked in health care in any form, so I don’t come with a background in this field other than a ton of personal experience.
I’d love to interview some of my friends who work in functional medicine, NP etc., to see what types of opportunities exist as a support person in this area. Leaving the functional medicine expertise to the doctors and allowing the follow up, nutrition, wellness support to someone like me. What type of training would I need? I’d love any suggestions. I’m looking at training through a company called Functional Nutrition Lab. But again without prior background as a nurse or nutritionist, I fear I may not have all the pieces. I’d love any suggestion or guidance. Or, if you would be willing to have a call with me, I’d love to pick your brain.
